Theoretical Perspectives
摘要
The theoretical perspectives for this book describe how education and society interact in an environment of conflict. There are three predominant views on education and conflict: EiE, conflict-sensitive education, and education as transformation. Social cohesion is critical at all stages and essential for sustainable peace. While various definitions of social cohesion exist, this book characterizes it as the density and interplay of vertical and horizontal trust. Schools can influence social cohesion through the way they are run and through their teaching. When considering education and social cohesion in a country affected by conflict, the role of international actors is critical and reflects the reality of a postmodern, globalized world.
