Peace Education Approach: Unity in Diversity?
摘要
Peace education is an integral part of social cohesion education. Peace education is essentially about how to live together with people of different backgrounds; therefore, it is characterized by multiculturalism. However, extreme forms of multicultural education can be detrimental to coexistence, as has been seen in the BiH context. Social cohesion, a form of social integration based on trust, can be a goal of peace education in conflict-affected societies. Ultimately, such peace education must address the balance between unity and diversity. This balance can be constructively addressed by promoting the ideas of multiple identities, multi-perspectivity, and outcome-based approaches to education.
