A Method to Detect Phishing Websites Using Distinctive URL Characteristics by Employing Machine Learning Technique

As digitalization worldwide is becoming very popular, securing the data has become a major challenge. Sensitive data of the user is personal information of the user is taken and utilized for unethical activities. One such cyber attack is known as phishing. This work proposes a method for encountering phishing and protecting users from accessing a non-legitimate website. The technique uses unique features of the URL. The proposed method helps in differentiating between legitimate and non-legitimate websites. Machine learning algorithms like random forest and Support Vector Machines are used to categorize the websites.
