Medical Image Compression Using Huffman Coding for Tiff Images
摘要
Image compression is highly demanded as it reduces computational time, resulting in a reduction in transmission and storage costs. The reduction of redundant code in a file is the goal of image compression. It helps to shorten the time it takes to send an image as well as the quantity of storage space required. Image compression is very essential in order to minimize redundant data and reduce memory and transmission bandwidth. A successful compression technique has been proposed, using hybrid approach. The Huffman coding technique provides minimal possibility of information loss because it has the Lossless feature and Daubechie1wavelet transform. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB and the test is performed on a TIFF image. Many other criteria, such as Mean square error (MSE), Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), and Compression Ratio (CR), were used to analyse the effectiveness of the proposed method.
