Moldboard Plow

A moldboard plow, a primary tillage implement, is used to cut, lift, turn, and pulverize the soil. In this chapter, different components of a moldboard plow and its types are discussed. Different forces acting on the plow and cutting geometry of soil slices are explained with neat diagrams. The effect of speed, depth, and plow shape on the performance of moldboard plow are discussed taking into consideration the findings reported by several researchers. The procedure to be followed for designing the moldboard has been given.
