Metal Oxide Nanostructure for Biomedical Applications

Metal oxide-based nanostructures (MO–NSs) have gained consequential attention as suitable materials for application in various biomedical fields. This chapter presents an overview of the wide-range biomedical applications of different MO–NSs. Their utility in the fields of image contrast and theranostic agents, tissue engineering and development of medical implants, dermatological and personal care products, and electrochemical biosensors and chemical sensors for clinical applications have been discussed in detail. The chapter concludes with the challenges associated with the biomedical applications of MO–NSs and the future prospects to overcome such hurdles.
