摘要

The field of oncobiology is witnessing rapid progress, with numerous ongoing studies dedicated to comprehending the intricate mechanisms underlying cancer initiation, progression, and therapeutic interventions. Despite significant strides, there remains a substantial gap in fully understanding the multifaceted factors driving cancer development and trajectory. This chapter delves into the imperative need for continued exploration of cancer’s genetic and molecular foundations to foster the development of innovative therapies. Emphasizing personalized treatment strategies tailored to individual patient characteristics is paramount. Key areas of focus discussed in this chapter include genomics, functional genomics, epigenetics, single-cell analysis, immunotherapy, metabolomics, the tumor microenvironment, artificial intelligence, liquid biopsies, and 3D organoid models. Noteworthy topics such as telomerase, TGF-β, E-cadherin, kinases, epigenetic alterations, modified angiogenesis, and metabolism are explored in relation to oncogenic progression. Furthermore, the chapter provides insights into emerging trends and potential future trajectories in oncobiology, including personalized medicine, immunotherapy, cancer stem cells, the gut microbiome, and advances in nanotechnology. By encapsulating these diverse areas of research, this book chapter aims to offer a comprehensive overview of the dynamic landscape of oncobiology and its implications for cancer diagnosis, treatment, and management.
