Recent Advances in FDA-Approved Kinase Inhibitors Targeting Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is a chronic deadly disease and is implicated with highest mortality rate among all cancers since years. Kinase are the proteins/biological macromolecules associated with the physiology of many biochemical events which upon modifications (genetic or epigenetic) may lead to threatening and deadly pathogenic outcomes including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, and aging. The continuous efforts in the field of drug design and discovery have led to the development of many drug molecules targeting overexpressed kinases, and many are being approved by FDA for clinical applications. But the continuous evolution or mutational modifications in kinases result the drugs to be ineffective in targeting cancer. So, the chapter emphasizes on the drugs approved by FDA in recent years along with their chemical structure, mechanism of action, and kinetic behavior as kinase inhibitors targeting lung cancer.
