Advancement in Cancer Modeling System: Latest Developments and Trends in Cancer Research and Healthcare Interventions

Cancer is the deadliest disease and a huge stress factor for human health. The models utilized in cancer treatment development are constantly evolving and progressing toward advanced preclinical investigations. Cancer models are either naturally occurring or purposely created experimental systems that exhibit characteristics similar to human cancers, despite the tumor’s diverse nature. One of the most difficult aspects of cancer evaluation is selecting the correct model to best portray the given tumor system. As a result, numerous studies on cancer models have been done in order to gain a better knowledge of cancer invasion, progression, and early diagnosis. These models shed light on the etiology of cancer, its genetic foundation, host–tumor interaction, the involvement of the microenvironment, and tumor heterogeneity in tumor metastasis. These systems are also used to forecast new cancer indicators and targeted medicines, and they are particularly useful in drug development. The promise of cancer models as a vehicle for drug screening and therapeutic advances is underlined in this chapter. Although none of the cancer models can be considered ideal since each has important limitations that limit its applicability, by connecting the dots between basic cancer research and translational medicine. They do, however, offer a positive outcome for anticancer therapy.
