Genetic Modulation of Anticancer Drugs Affecting Pharmacokinetic for Safety and Efficacy

Cancer is a serious health issue which is caused by genetic alteration that leads to tremendous increases in cell growth in uncontrolled manner. The fate and differentiation of cells depends upon normal growth of cell, but alteration is seen due to mutations in genes. Proto-oncogene, tumor suppressor gene, and DNA repair gene are the genes that primarily involve in pathological pathway in various types of cancer. These three genes are involved in the cell survival and death. Treatment of cancer helps with chemotherapeutic techniques via the modulation of target genes that contribute to cell dividing and maturation of cancer cells. Pharmacokinetic profile of anticancer agent varies due to metabolism of different enzymatic involvement. The genetic modulation also alters the metabolism of therapeutic agents. In this, we summarize the gene modulation via anticancer drug targeting its pharmacokinetic profile.
