Advances in Cancer Therapeutics: Potential Probiotics on Cancer Therapy

Cancer is known as the leading cause of human mortality. Several risk factors are associated with developing cancer like genetic factors, immune status, microbiome, diet, and habits. Probiotics, a group of beneficial microbes and related products, have drawn significant attention in prevention and treatment of several diseases including cancer. With general description of cancer and treatment strategies, advancement in understanding the role of probiotics and its metabolites in cancer treatment and prevention in general and colon cancer in particular have been reviewed in this chapter. There is increasing research-based evidence which admires and admits the possible role of probiotics as an alternative strategy in cancer control in the near future.
