Comparative Study on the Performance of RC Frame Multistorey with Three Different FRP Reinforcements
摘要
Concrete plays a major role in the construction industry and takes care of compression load, and it lacks in tensile strength. To overcome the lack in tensile limitations of concrete and with the added advantages of Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) over steel such as corrosion resistance, low life cycle cost, chemical resistance, ease of construction, durability, high tensile strength-to-weight ratio, there has been growing importance for it in the construction industry. Using FRP externally as sheets for rehabilitation is more common than using FRP as a reinforcement bar in the reinforced concrete structure. In this paper, FRP as a reinforcement bar has been used in the RC-framed G + 7 multistorey structure. Three types of FRP have been used: GFRP, CFRP, and AFRP. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the RC-framed structure with three different FRPs as reinforcement in seismic conditions of Zone V with hard soil conditions and then to draw a comparison to how would it react in seismic conditions as compared to using steel as reinforcement. Cost analysis performed between different FRPs with steel used traditionally.
