Quality Assessment of Building and Infrastructure Project Using Taguchi Methodology

摘要

The construction industry is the second largest contributor to the Indian economy. In fact, quality plays a key role in buildings industry due to poor quality which impacts cost, time, and client satisfaction on the project. A preliminary article survey and professional interview revealed six sub-variables that are organised into nine important critical factors that affect the quality performance of the in India construction projects. The critical factors are contract, management, technical, material, labour, equipment, environmental, political, and miscellaneous factors that were identified as essential. The statistical analysis of 105 questionnaire responses about the characteristics led to the discovery of sets of failure traits. The study ranked the 18 most impact factor affecting the construction quality by using Taguchi signal-to-noise ratio methodology ranked factors are time scale of work (16.29), corruption and bribery (14.42), lack of contractor supervision and site management (14.11) and 15 more factors. The proposed Taguchi signal-to-noise model supports the credibility of the quality analysis by taking into account its further mitigation measures taken in the initial planning stage or subsequent stages to reduce the impact and improve the construction quality.
