A Review on Fast Charging/Discharging Effect in Lithium-Ion Batteries for Electric Vehicles
摘要
Electric vehicles (EVs) fast charging and discharging of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries have become a significant concern. Reducing charging times and increasing vehicle range are desirable for better battery performance and lifespan. One of the main challenges associated with fast charging and discharging is the degradation of the battery’s electrodes, resulting in decreased battery capacity and increased internal resistance. Rapid charge/discharge rates can also cause high heat generation, leading to thermal runaway and damage to the battery’s electrolyte and electrodes. This review provides an underlying issue related to fast charging and discharging and explores their impact on the battery’s performance and lifespan. Furthermore, effective battery thermal management systems are essential to optimize the battery’s charging/discharging rates, monitor its temperature, and prevent overcharging/over-discharging. The insights provided by the review will be valuable for identifying and addressing the challenges associated with the fast charging/discharging of Li-ion batteries for modern EVs.
