Numerical Investigation of Cavitation Behavior for Dodecane and OME3 Fuel in ECN Spray C Injector Nozzle

摘要

This work numerically investigates the cavitation characteristics in the Engine Combustion Network (ECN) Spray C037 nozzle using two different fuels (n-Dodecane and OME3). The cavitation modeling is performed using the CONVERGE code. RNG \(k-\epsilon\) turbulence model is used to determine the effect of turbulence, and phase change inside the nozzle is predicted using the Homogeneous Relaxation Model (HRM) coupled with a multiphase mixture model. For model validation, the simulated mass flow rate and cavitation contour shape of n-dodecane fuel are compared with the experimental result provided in the literature. Finally, the comparison of results for n-dodecane and OME3 fuel is presented for the Spray C nozzle.
