Effect of Blockage on the Dynamic Characteristics of an Aluminium Tube Conveying Fluid

Many complex mechanical engineering problems depend on numerical methods to get accurate results. Fluid–structure interaction occurs due to energy transfer between water and tube simultaneously is one such complex problem. The present work focusses on the effect of fluid flow as well as blockage inside an aluminium tube on the fluid–structure interaction phenomenon. Aluminium tubes find many engineering applications such as in refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems, heat exchanger. The blockage inside the tubes may result in the excessive vibrations of such systems. ANSYS software is used for FEM analysis to simulate the dynamic properties of tube. Additionally, a parametric study is done on how the dynamics of tube are affected due to difference in flow velocity and blockage size.
