Undergraduate educationUndergraduate education plays a fundamental role in China’s higher educationHigher education reform in the last four decades. Great progress has been made in undergraduate enrollmentEnrollment, qualityQuality, and effectiveness. Most recently, Chinese higher educational reforms have focused on developing world-class undergraduate education with Chinese features. This chapter presents an overall picture of the Chinese undergraduate educationUndergraduate education sector and analyzes its development and performance through an international comparative lens. It then provides case studies of best practices and inspiring stories of teaching excellence. This chapter also reviews national policies and existing literature on undergraduate education by Chinese scholars.
