Flux Enhancement Due to the Modification of the Large Scales in an Axially Homogeneous Turbulent Convection
摘要
An experimental study reporting the enhancement of turbulent flux of a scalar due to the modification of the large scales of a turbulent convective flow is reported. The control flow considered is an axially homogeneous, zero mean shear turbulent convection. The effect of stationary surfaces (cylindrical rod inserts) introduced into the flow is reported here. The characteristics of turbulence are significantly affected by the introduction of these surface(s) which includes the increase in the buoyant flux. The placement and the number of inserts in relation to the quantum of flux enhancement is studied. Directions of study and the context of the study in relation to turbulence control are discussed.
