Proto-Berber Heavy Verbs

The complexities of Berber verbal morphology have long been recognized, and its reconstruction has been undertaken by several authors, most notably by Prasse (1973). In principle we can distinguish between several general verb types, which Heath (2005) has classified for Tuareg as “light verbs” (verbs with two stem vowels) and “heavy verbs” (verbs with more than two stem vowels).
