Guidelines for Transport of PCICU Patients Within the Hospital

Children with critical cardiac conditions need to be transported frequently to and from pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. Transporting critical patients is not always safe and can jeopardize the life of the patients. Furthermore, moving and receiving patients from operating room to pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (ICU) is considered to be one of the most critical time periods of patient transportation and care. The subject of discussion in this chapter is: What are the measures and preparations that are needed to ensure safe transportation of child with cardiac disease?
