Admission of Patients in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU)

Pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU) admits patients from wards, step-down units, emergency room (ER), and transfers patients from other hospitals and operation room (OR). However, majority of the patients in PCICU are transferred from the operating theatre under the supervision of an anesthetist and surgeon. They will remain with the patient until he/she is stable in the ICU and a full handover has taken place to the ICU medical and nursing staff.
