摘要

There is a critical issue of concern worldwide related to the increasing global population and malnutrition. Developing countries are facing issues with high energy food and balanced diet. In order to combat malnutrition, it is important to develop a food security approach that is economically sustainable. For this reason, we also consider nutraceuticals and functional dietary supplements, which provide an additional emphasis on health. In recent years, a plethora of food-derived categories of products widely recognized as nutraceuticals have become increasingly popular as consumers have become more educated about their potential health benefits and the need for enhanced wellness. The proper consumption of nutraceuticals in a fixed diet alongside standard food can be a suitable and potential substitute for synthetic drugs taken regularly. Nature’s way shows us a better perspective to heal ourselves with. Since nutraceuticals are recognized to have fewer adverse effects, there is now a lot of research on their therapeutic implications. This chapter emphasizes on the nutritional aspects of potential functional foods in mitigating certain diseases and health problems associated with lifestyle.
