History Taking and Management of a Patient Presenting with Epistaxis
摘要
Areas to focus on: history of trauma (digital, blunt, foreign bodies), barometric changes, nasal dryness, allergic or viral rhinitis, or exposure to chemicals (cocaine, xylometazoline, nasal steroids). Possibility of malignancy (especially if unilateral in an adolescent male), systemic disease (as in coagulopathies, hypertension, hepatic disease, leukemia, thrombocytopenia), or physiologic congestion in pregnancy (may result in epistaxis which is self-limited).
