Re-cognizing Agency in Voices: Between Material, Digital, and Self
摘要
Walking 10,000 steps every day was suggested to me by my hepatologist as a health-recovery method to deal with my liver issues. I turned this opportunity into an a/r/tographic project which involved photography to have a deeper understanding of the capacity in materiality. Walking through a forestForest, I began to notice the agenciesAgency between life offered by leaves on trees, digital images created by my iPhone, digital information produced by my Fitness IntervalInterval Tracker and Body Index Technology (FITBIT) device, and myself. My initial ontologicalOntological understanding of the forest was a place for soothing my mind and body, but it soon evolved into a place for makingMaking artArt, recovering health, and contemplating art educationEducation. Through layers of walkingWalkwalking experiencesExperience, I learned to find pre-excavated thoughts and feelingsFeel/feeling as a poetical space with imagination in my familiar place. Cognizing both materialMaterial and immaterialImmaterial information from various directionsDirection renewed my understanding of healingHealing. I relearned that the way I walk with young childrenChildren matters as an artArt educator. Learning occurs within the experiencesExperience of encountering both materials and immaterialsImmaterial such as living and digital entities, as we imagine how we live with others well, to sustain an educationEducation between non-humansHumannon-human and the human self.
