Walking Video as A/r/tographic Exploration of Children’s Community Mapping

Walking videos offer a way to collectCollect rich qualitative data, including human behaviour, environmentalEnvironmental factors, contextual background, spatialSpatial information, and social structures. In this chapter, we describe how we employed a walking video project as a new pedagogical tool to facilitate children’sChildren embodied experienceExperience in their community. 37 sixth-grade childrenChildren in Seoul, KoreaSouth KoreaSeoul, were invited to participate and produced their walking videos. Through analyzing the videos, journals, and participants’ comments, we learned that walking videos can become a valuable tool and means for studentsStudents to connectConnect with their peers and teachers, as well as offering rich data and findings for their community experiences.
