The Life and Death of Cities

  • Sanford Ikeda

摘要

Here we explore in detail how and why, according to Jacobs, a living city is the principal social context within which innovation takes place. This chapter outlines and interprets Jacobs’s fundamental contributions to the theory and mechanics of economic development. We also identify the forces internal to the urban process itself that may retard development and contribute to its decline.
