Synoptic Accounts of Species of Black Flies in the Oriental Region

In this chapter, synoptic accounts of all 716 species (671 named and 45 unnamed) of black flies recorded in the Oriental Region by May 2023 are given under each subgenus, species-group, and subgroup. Two species, S. seramense Takaoka in the S. dumogaense species-group of the subgenus Simulium s. str. and S. alfurense Takaoka in the subgenus Wallacellum, are added for reference, though both species are distributed in the Australasian Region.
