Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw: MRONJ
摘要
Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a serious condition that affects the jaw bones, i.e., maxilla and/or mandible, in patients undergoing treatment for cancer and osteoporosis. It is a chronic condition characterized by gradual destruction of the jaw bones, which leads to significant morbidity and deterioration of quality of life of the individual. Certain medications such as bisphosphonates (BPs), denosumab, and anti-angiogenic agents have been documented in the literature to be associated with MRONJ.
