Climate Change and Forensic Flies

Climate change is a global phenomenon affecting the plant, animal, and human life. Insect diversity contributes to ecosystem functions and services as it is vital to the ecosystem and climate change has been known to impact the invertebrates and insects causing stress. Thus, it is important to study the impact of climate change on insect population. Although few studies reports are there to conclusively understand the impact of climate change on invertebrate life forms and in insects, in this chapter we discuss the current knowledge regarding impact of climate change on biodiversity, distribution, physiology, community, structure, and its interactions in insects. We also outline the few studies reporting the impact of climate change on forensically important insects. It remains to be important to the policy makers on climate change while framing policies, to mitigate the loss of biodiversity and delivery of ecosystem services by insects.
