Port heavy lift cargoes refer to bulky, long, and large bulk cargoes, as well as various machines and complete sets of equipment. Heavy lift cargoes handling machinery includes the bridge crane for heavy lift cargoes lifting, gantry crane for heavy lift cargoes lifting, portal crane for heavy lift cargoes lifting, fixed-base crane for heavy lift cargoes lifting, derrick crane, cantilever crane, and other lifting equipment. This chapter provides an overview of the development status at home and abroad, model characteristics, and classification of heavy lift cargoes handling machinery; provides a detailed analysis of the overall composition and principle, metal structure, hoisting mechanism, travelling mechanism, slewing mechanism, pickup device, electrical control system, and safety protection device of each model; and also provides a brief analysis of the application scope, main technical performance parameters, selection considerations, standards, and development trends of heavy lift cargoes handling machinery.
