The Impact of Online Learning Facilities and Activities on the Effectiveness of Online Learning for Secondary Education: The Case of Vietnam

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of online learning in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic and consequent nationwide lockdowns in Vietnam. The focus of this study is on learning facilities and learning activities in secondary education. Secondary data as collected by Bui et al. [1] is utilized. Data collection was conducted through an online survey administered between September and December 2021 to 5,327 secondary school students from five provinces in Vietnam. The authors analyzed the data using Multiple Regression and Exploratory Factor Analysis via SPSS. The results of the data analysis indicate that learning activities and teaching activities have the greatest influence on the effectiveness of online education, in that order of importance. The authors conclude that to enhance the effectiveness of online learning, the most important factors are teaching and learning activities where interaction plays a key role. Online facilities such as tools and platforms have a positive impact on the effectiveness of online learning, but to a much lesser extent.
