Fibrous Tumours and Lesions of Bone

Fibrous tumours of bone are desmoplastic fibroma and fibrosarcoma. Fibrous dysplasia, osteofibrous dysplasia, myofibroma, periosteal desmoid and fibrocartilaginous mesenchymoma are tumours with predominant fibrous component. Hence, they are included in this chapter. Among the fibrohistiocytic tumours, benign fibrous histiocytoma of bone no longer exists. The undifferentiated sarcoma of bone (earlier called as malignant fibrous histiocytoma) is also a tumour with predominant fibrous component.
