Metastatic tumours are more common than primary bone tumours. Common tumours that metastasize to bone are prostate, breast, thyroid and kidney carcinomas. Primary bone tumours like Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma can metastasize to other bones. Immunohistochemical stains and serum tumour markers help to locate primary.
