Quality Culture and the Impact on Certification

Quality management systems and various standards that define them are well known and accepted in the manufacturing and service sectors. International certifications like the ISO 9001:2015 and Six Sigma have become synonymous with assuring customers of consistent quality. While organizations are quick to adopt quality standards, they fail to understand the role of quality culture in sustaining compliance. This book chapter explores the origin of quality standards, organizational culture model, and the role of humans in establishing and sustaining a good culture of quality.
