Analysis of Video Summarization Techniques for Resource Optimization in Multimedia Applications

The digital camera is essential to many modern activities includes event planning, entertainment, and security surveillance administration, news, sports, instruction, advertising, etc. Various types of security cameras (both fixed and movable) are installed in homes, businesses, and public spaces, data-producing institutions including banks, airports, and others take a lot of time and effort to analyze visual data for interesting or helpful information. Particularly for video, due to the temporal characteristics, the modification and management of this massive visual data differ greatly from text or photos. As a result, it can be challenging and time-consuming to identify anomalous, suspicious, or deviant behavior in high-dimensional data. Additionally, it requires a lot of computing power, storage capacity, and human intelligence. Video summarization provides an optimized way to handle these resources. In this chapter various video summarization strategies are reviewed and compared. These techniques are classified into various categories. The topic then turns to the various applications, advantages and disadvantages, and difficulties associated with the current video summarization techniques.
