Clinical Experience of Robot-Assisted Distal Pancreatectomy from Our Center

Distal pancreatectomy (DP) is resection of the left pancreatic tissue of the mesenteric vessels. It is used for the treatment of both malignant and premalignant tumors in the body and tail of the pancreas. In the past decade, robotic surgery has become more and more widely used in pancreatic surgery. Clinical data shows that robot-assisted pancreatectomy has greater advantages in many aspects than laparoscopic and open pancreatic surgery. Since March 2010, our pancreatic center has started performing robot-assisted pancreatic surgery. So far we have performed more than 1000 cases of such operations, including more than 200 cases of robot-assisted distal pancreatectomy (RDP). In this article, we will summarize some of our center’s experience about RDP, including the advantages of RPD, how to choose the appropriate operation way of RPD and our surgical technique.
