Conceptualizations of Time in Persian Culture: Worldview Metaphors

Despite an increasing interest in conceptual metaphors on the one hand, and the growth of the implementation of Cultural Linguistics’ framework in metaphor studies on the other, few studies have investigated conceptual metaphors through a Cultural Linguistics’ perspective. In this study, the conceptualizations of time in Persian culture will be analyzed in terms of cultural metaphors, categories, and schema. Moreover, new findings delineating cultural conceptualizations of temporal metaphors will be outlined in light of the study’s deeper investigation into Persian cultural roots.
