摘要

Cancer remains the leading cause of death worldwide, with an estimated 18.1 million cancer cases in 2020 alone. The societal and financial burden of increasing cancer cases demands the development of novel techniques for their early detection and diagnosis. Nanobiosensing platforms, as synergistic integrations of biomolecules and nanoparticles, have gained much attention as diagnostic tools for the early detection of cancer. This chapter provides a detailed account of the various methodologies used for the early detection of cancer. The biomolecular immobilisation of nanoparticle probes for rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of cancer biomarkers. Additionally, these platforms offer advantages such as label-free detection, real-time monitoring, and compatibility with point-of-care devices, enabling early cancer diagnosis in a cost-effective manner. Thus, nanobiosensing platforms may open new avenues for the development of state-of-the-art technologies that will be crucial for the monitoring and personalised treatment of cancer patients.
