摘要

Water-soluble vitamin B6 is made up of six molecules consisting of pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and its phosphorylated derivatives, each of which has a pyridine ring in its centre. Various epidemiological, in vivo, and in vitro studies have been conducted to study the cancer prevention and treatmentproperties of these molecules. However, only a few of these pyridoxine derivatives have entered clinical trials for cancer. Thus, it is only reasonable to investigate the extensive possibilities for chemical modification of the pyridoxine structure in the development of innovative medications for cancer. This chapter summarises the data on chemistry, possible modifications in the pyridoxine molecule thatare done, and the association between pyridoxine derivatives and cancer. In addition, we have also provided recent patents on pyridoxine and its derivatives.
