Statistical Models in Cancer Management

Globally, the incidence of cancer is growing rapidly especially among developing nations. Cancer is the second leading cause of mortality worldwide before the age of 70 years. Several statistical techniques have been created and reported for estimating cancer incidence and mortality rates. The standard biomarker for cancer growth and different cancer-specific antigen may not always associate with cancer development. Thus far, different modeling efforts have utilized a broad range of model types and methods to uncover some fundamentals of cancer progression and the efficacy of its treatments. In this book chapter, we have given the idea about fundamental statistical concepts and methodologies used in cancer management. We have discussed about different models such as paradigm model, analytic model, continuous growth model, cox survival model, Markov model, standardized regression model, ordinary differential equation model, and logistic models which will be useful in the management of cancer.
