Response of a Multi-Degree of Freedom System
摘要
This chapter focuses on the matrix method to determine the response of a multi-degree of freedom (MDOF) system. It begins with formulation of equation of motion of a MDOF system in terms of stiffness matrix or flexibility matrix and a dynamic matrix from which the un-damped free response, damped free response and forced harmonic response of a MDOF system can be determined. The orthogonal properties of the eigen-vectors are also explained which form the basis of modal analysis procedure.
