摘要

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is an aggressive malignancy, more commonly seen in males, and is detected with a wide spectrum of presentations. Ultrasonography (USG) and computed tomography scan (CT) are usually main contributors toward diagnosis and planning therapy. The management of localized kidney cancer has been changed from open radical nephrectomy to more conservative approaches such as partial nephrectomy, ablative procedures and active surveillance. Minimally invasive approaches have now been established modalities. In past few decades, significant advances have been made in our understanding of molecular pathways and genetic basis of RCC which led to development of novel targeted therapies and improvement in survival of advanced RCC patients.
