Pancreatic Cancer
摘要
Pancreatic cancer has a dismal prognosis with incidence and the mortality curves running parallelly [1]. Despite treatment advances, 5-year survival across all stages remains as low as 6–7%. This is attributable to many factors but perhaps the most important reason is the late diagnosis in advanced stage. Most patients remain asymptomatic until the disease progresses to an advanced stage and only 20% of patients are eligible for resection at presentation [2]. Despite curative resection, the reported 5-year survival rate for resected cases remains low up to 25% [1]. This aggressive tumor biology leads to early recurrence and metastasis. In this review, we discuss epidemiology, risk factors, diagnosis, and management of pancreatic cancer.
