Salicylic Acid: A Phytohormone of Antistress and Insecticidal Essence

Salicylic acid has diverse applications due to the presence of phenolic compounds. It has been used as antistress and insecticidal agent. Hence, this phenolic compound is widely studied and has been used by researchers as a signaling phytohormone against biotrophs. It has wide applicability in mitigating abiotic stresses. Similarly, it has been observed that this compound will act as a potent biopesticide. Novel approaches are required to synthesis genes similar to salicylic acid that will survive under harsh conditions to open new ways for the development of biopesticides for future use. The aim of this chapter is to understand the role of salicylic acid as a phytohormone of antistress and insecticidal essence.
