SAFeComNet: Safer Artisanal Fishing intEgrating a COMmunity NETwork

In Senegal, artisanal fishing activities are increasingly carried out in white areas, in total absence of communication networks. This situation puts the fishermen at risk as they have no means of exchange with each other or with the mainland. Thus, we propose an architecture based on LoRa technology and enabling the transfer of important information such as location, messages and alerts. The works presented in this paper focus on a location update algorithm which enables each node to know the position of each of its neighbours. The proposed location update algorithm is evaluated respectively in an experimental and in a virtual test bench.
