Integration and Control of RES Using Multi-agent System in Railways

Increased rail traffic is caused by an increase in population and economic modes of transportation, which results in increased electric energy consumption. Installing a novel DC substation or updating an existing DC substation are the choices that are actually used. These techniques don't deal with the problems connected to the power route losses from the station to the running trains on the line from an economic standpoint. It also adds additional transmission and distribution network investment expenses. Two Renewable Energy Sources (RES) from various types of nature are integrated in this study to reduce their discontinuity and prevent oversizing, which may happen if only one source is available. The battery or another storage device is connected to the RES. A strategy to support the partial autonomy of energy providers in the rail traffic sector may be to hybridise the railway substations with renewable sources and storage units connected to a DC bus. This paper proposes a control architecture that includes system protection, self-sufficient, and smart generator to the catenary banks to the DC bus, and a Multi-Agent System (MAS) to operate the system and MATLAB/Simulink is used to analyse the results.
