Performance Analysis of Indian Utility for Power System Security Under Various Contingency Conditions

The power system security assessment is critical as it provides information on the state of the system in the case of an unpredicted situations. When a transmission line or transformer fails, the voltage in the system can suddenly spike or drop, potentially overloading other branches. A sensitivity analysis of the power grid is conducted in this paper. The voltage and power characteristics are obtained for different cases like single transmission line outage, double transmission line outage, generator outage, and the combination of generator and transmission line outage. The complete system security conditions are performed on the Indian utility UPSEB-75 bus system. The MATLAB simulation results validate that the proposed mathematically modeling proves efficient in analyzing the power system behavior under contingency conditions.
