Philosophical Implications in the Writings of Richard Wright – an Overview

The novels Black Boy and Native Son by Richard Wright are the subjects of this article's analysis of how race is portrayed in literature. Richard Wright's book, Black Boy, details his own experiences during the Jim Crow era and the psychological and emotional effects they had on him. In Native Son, Wright portrays the tale of a young African American guy who struggled to find his place in society because of the poorer living circumstances he was born into. This essay examines the numerous works to see whether his two books on racial identity, Black Boy and Native Son, have any elements in common with other important race studies, particularly African American studies.
