摘要

This work deals with the Theoretical efficiency potential of GaInP/GaAs tandem solar cells is investigated using the one-dimensional numerical computer tool SCAPS-1D. The main objective of this paper is the enhancement conversion efficiency of the GaInP/GaAs tandem solar cells cell using of the luminescent downshifting concept (LDS). A thin plate of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) doped with different kinds of organics dyes serves as an encapsulation material for the solar cell. In this paper we will investigate the four fluorescent organic dyes (BASF Lumogen Violet 570, Yellow083, Orange240 and Red300). To substantiate the enhancement introduced by each dye on the solar cell performance, several models were made every time by introducing an additional type of dye to the existing ones under condition that the absorption interval of the added dyes falls in the emission interval of previously introduced dyes. The maximum enhancement brought to the GaInP/GaAs tandem cell corresponds to a PMMA doped with the three dyes types (Violet 570, Yellow083, Orange240); this results in an open circuit voltage of 2.406 V, a short circuit current density of 14.62 mA/cm2, an conversion efficiency of 31.58% and a fill factor of 89.77% under the AM1.5G solar spectrum.
