Utilization of Solar Energy Treatment of Industrial Wastewater

Solar wastewater treatment (SOWAT) already gives excellent results for industrial wastewater treatment using a hybrid solar still. In this study, SOWAT is applied to treat wastewater rejected by Tannerie-SPA in Rouiba. It is part of a project conducted by UDES to reduce water consumption through its reuse and prevent environmental pollution during tanning operations. The presented study proposes the use of a hybrid solar still to ensure a controlled and continuous tannery wastewater treatment. At the laboratory scale, this evapo-concentration process records abatement rate concerning organic, inorganic, bacterial, and metallic pollution, comparatively to the conventional treatment.
